Rikku is perpetually cheerful. Optimistic and childish, she is regularly the cause of scorn for her made up words, loud noises and energetic attitude. Her cheery disposition is usually an attempt to keep morale high; she dislikes when moods are low and tries her hardest to keep those she cares for happy and cheerful. She is a thief at heart, as such she looks to make a profit from anything she does, but has a kind nature underneath.
She goes the extra mile for people she cares about and forms bonds very quickly, seeing everyone as a friend –even ‘meanies’ at times. She has a strong sense of right and wrong, and that sometimes to do the right thing, you have to do the wrong thing. She has rather loose morals, seeing the path that needs be taken and not minding a few petty pranks, or thievery along the way. She once kidnapped Yuna in a bid to save her life from the Final Summoning that would kill her while stopping SIN.
She is loyal to friends and would be counted a hero to the world –she likes it, it’s pretty. Although she does like the honour and glory that goes with it. Along with her Al Bhed heritage comes a significant discrimination; while Rikku was growing up, Al Bhed's were hated throughout Spira. As such, Rikku has a bit of a hardness when it comes to her origin. She dislikes being judged for her nature, and as her eyes give her away as being Al Bhed, she will avoid showing them if she can if she feels it will sway peoples opinions on her.
Rikku is a skilled thief, fighter and mechanic. Rikku is also known to be highly intelligent, speaking two languages and being skilled in chemistry.
Rikku has a rather open ideal when it comes to relationships. She makes friends fast, rather happy and friendly in most cases, and is loyal to all her friends. Intimate relationships, however, are not easy for Rikku. Loyalty and friendship is one thing, but Rikku wants to find a spark, and she needs to trust completely before she'll let herself get burned like that in any way.
She's young enough to be naive about things, but she's seen enough to know that not everything is sunshine and flowers. She doesn't want to be hurt the way she's seen Yuna hurting over Tidus' loss. More inclined to tease and be easily embarrassed, Rikku is a tough nut to crack.
The term 'social butterfly' doesn't rightly cover Rikku; she's more of a social tornado than anything else. With her naturally cheery disposition, Rikku is inclined to spread the cheer and optimism near constantly, whether it's wanted or not. She's loud, friendly and rather hyperactive, not exactly the life and soul or center of attention; but Rikku's never far away from something like it.
Likes: flying, stealing, family, sphere hunting Dislikes: mean people, liars, the cold Fears: thunder, snakes, needles, Yuna's death Religion: Al Bhed
Height: 5'1" Weight: 105lbs Build: waif, toned, petite Eyes: green, black swirls for pupils Hair: blond Skin: tanned
Wardrobe: as an Al Bhed, Rikku favours little in the way of dressing; since Home was in the middle of a desert, and now Bikanel is a desert, the Al Bhed's tend to dress for the heat. Rikku's outfits usually leave little to the imagination. Her usual outfit; her Thief sphere, her top is just a small, yellow bikini top with a long red scarf that shifts to yellow at the ends, long sleeves with ruffles cover her arms to her shoulders and she wears brown gloves –for gripping her weapons. Her yellow bikini briefs are covered by her green skirt, which doesn’t even reach her thighs, and has a yellow belt with small compartments for holding her spheres and potions. Rikku’s boots come to above her ankles, with cream covering her feet and a blue side, they are loose to allow her legs enough movement in fights.
Distinguishing Marks: Rikku's eyes, which are bright green, have a black, swirling pupil. This is something that distinguishes most Al Bhed's from the non-Al Bhed Spirans. Rikku also has a small scar on her hip which she got during Yuna's Pilgrimage to stop SIN, when she was 15.
Manner of Speech: Fluent in two languages; Al Bhed and Spiran, Rikku is rather vocal in all matters. She speaks with a slightly childish turn -often making up words like 'disassteriffic' in events that merit such extreme terms. She also calls people 'meanies' and often uses nicknames; affectionately calling her cousin Yunie from the start.
General Presence: Rikku is like a bolt of sunshine. She doesn't like when things are too serious, so she makes them lighter just by being around. In general, she's a happy, bouncy young woman with endless enthusiasm and optimism. Something that sometimes drives her companions mad.
Beyond her simple abilities as a chemist -mixing potions and certain bombs or items to make bombs or cures, Rikku is a skilled mechanic and fighter. Rikku relies on her potions and elixers for any magical ability, her wish to be more like Lulu fulfilled in her Black Mage abilites. Her dresspheres provide further skills and her accessories help her strength and give magical properties to her abilities. At current, Rikku is equipped with her Chaos Maelstrom garment grid. Her dresspheres are;
Thief: as with all of the thieves in the series, the Thief Dressphere provides the 'steal' and 'flee' function; this dressphere also includes higher evasion stats, and significantly better agility stats. The weapons used as a Thief are two stylized blades, it deals two attacks to the enemy, which is useful when in a chain combo. The Thief dons small, tight clothes for agility, yet little defense. As Rikku's default is the Thief sphere, she has mastered all Thief abilities.
Songstress: the Songstress sphere is a magical based sphere and is more support and status element than anything else. With enhanced MP and a lower HP, the sphere is suited for weaker fighters to support the stronger members of the team. When equipped, the wearer is given a stylised outfit with floral sleeves and a flowing top coupled with a microphone. Singing affects the teams status' raising strength, defence and magic, while dancing affects the opponent with specific status elements such as darkness, sleep, silence and stop or slow. Dancing can also affect the team with positive status elements.
Black Mage: is simply a magic based offensive and defensive sphere. Equipped with the four basic abilities and the ability to build their strength, a blackmage also has the MP absorb and Focus skill. The Black Mage dons a regular Black Mage hat and robes with a feminine twist. The flaws of the dressphere is that it has one of the lowest Strength value in the whole game. To make matters worse, it also has a very low Defense rating. Though the flaws are evened out with high Magic Defense and Magic ratings. It is also one of the few dresspheres in the game that cannot physically attack the enemy unless inflicted with the Berserk status.
Gunner: with abilities like 'trigger happy' and 'pot shot', the Gunner Dressphere is ideal for long distance. The Gunner dons a half skirt on the hip and high boots, Rikku manages a pair of small hand guns. The Gunner abilities depend on the bullet/shot type; basic attacks like 'attack' and 'trigger happy' are simply basic shots with no status effects. Others, such as 'cheap shot', 'pot shot' or 'enchanted ammo' allot different status effects on an enemy, these rely on a stock of specific ammo for these attacks. The Gunner sphere is good when distance is required.
Warrior: requires a significant amount of HP, usually the most in the party. The Warrior Dressphere is a powerful attack based sphere with focus on strength. With basic attacks being slices with large swords -Rikku's weapon being Tidus' Crystal Sword, there are also magic based attacks, like 'flametongue', 'ice brand' and 'thunder steel' which deal elemental damage. There are also attacks to render damage to status abilities, like magic defence, power and delays to opponents attack. The warrior dons heavy leather with numerous buckles for added defence.
Lady Luck: uses dice and slots to attack the opponent as well as attempting to increase the amount of Gil, experience, or items earned from battles. The Lady Luck Dressphere dons tight, revealing colored outfits with playing card symbols on them; Rikku's is yellow with the Club symbol. As the name suggests, the Lady Luck dressphere excels in high Luck, therefore the player benefits from many critical hits to the enemies. The dressphere is only above average regarding other stats but is somewhat high in strength. This dressphere relies heavily on player skill and luck, especially when using the reels which are the primary source of the dressphere's offense and defense. If the reels were to fail to make a good combination the player suffers from a "Dud" which takes off 75% of the current HP regardless of the defense.
Machina Maw: is a large, salvage machine operated by Rikku. With three components, Machinations, Crush and Smash, Rikku can use this to fight as three rather than one. With the central ability to use missile projectiles equipped with magical stats, along with support magic from Smash and attack magic on Crush, Rikku is a formidable foe when using her machine. The Machina Maw however, is only available in dire situations and is reserved for serious battle -in order to use it, Rikku must go through each of her six equipped dresspheres to activate the special dressphere; this takes time, effort and causes Rikku to be exceptionally vulnerable to attack while doing so.
Weapons: each dressphere comes with it's own weapon; although Rikku's signature weapons are duel, curved blades. Rikku is also skilled with hand guns from the Gunner sphere, a broad sword from the warrior sphere, and magical abilities with her Songstress, Dark Mage and Lady Luck spheres.
Rikku's 'special' dressphere is also counted as a weapon; Machina Maw is a large, machine with built in offence and defence features. Rikku is able to maintain the machine through her extensive mechanical abilities.
Rikku is Yuna’s Al Bhed cousin –Yuna’s mother was Rikku’s aunt. She lived on the Al Bhed continent of Home until an attack by the being SIN wiped out the land and forced the Al Bhed’s to leave, Rikku's mother was also killed in the attack. Being an Al Bhed in Spira wasn’t easy, the Al Bhed didn’t follow Yevon’s teachings and as such they were seen as filth and untrustworthy by a lot of Spira.
They were however incredibly useful in their creating of Machina –machines that help people live in Spira. Machina can be used to fight the fiends, which were supposedly the remaining essence of people who were ‘unsent’. For several years, as the daughter of the Al Bhed's leader, Cid, Rikku was taught the numerous ways that Al Bhed's create Machina, becoming a skilled mechanic, she was also rather crafty and sneaky, stealing items from passing travellers when needed.
At 15, Rikku travelled to Spira on a quest to find her cousin Yuna and save her from losing her life at the end of her Pilgrimage to stop SIN and bring the Calm to Spira. Only a Summoner could defeat SIN, but it cost them their lives. The thought of losing Yuna, or any Summoner, was hard for Rikku and she attempted to stop the Summoners from making their journey by kidnapping them or making the trip across the desert impossible, thus halting their Pilgrimage. Eventually, after Tidus and Wakka saved Yuna from Rikku's kidnap plot, the young Al Bhed joined with Yuna’s Guardians during the Pilgrimage in the hopes of finding another way.
As it is, Yuna refuses to sacrifice one of her Guardian’s as the end of her Pilgrimage when she is told it is the only way, Yuna looks for another way and as such destroys SIN completely and brings the Eternal Calm to Spira –although losing Tidus, a boy dreamt up by the Fayth to help Yuna, in the process. Although saddened by the loss of both Tidus and Auron –who was unsent, Rikku is overjoyed at saving Yuna.
Two years after defeating SIN, Rikku, her brother –aptly named Brother, and Buddy and Shinra are travelling Spira as Sphere Hunters. They befriend a girl named Paine somewhere along the line and eventually Yuna joins having found a sphere of what she thinks is Tidus and wanting to see if there are more. Rikku initially believes that Yuna isn’t enjoying herself, but is appeased when Yuna claims to be. Rikku serves to lighten the mood among the Gullwings, balancing out Paine’s seriousness and Yuna’s cautiousness.
The three girls get somewhat caught up in a feud between the three factions of Spira –New Yevon, the Youth League and the somewhat in the middle Machine Faction. With an ‘Awesome Sphere’ up for grabs, the Gullwings swoop in and steal it from out beneath New Yevon and the Youth League, before discovering that they don’t really want the sphere at all, as the video played is bad news, they decide to give it back –donate the sphere to Spira’s history. However, Yuna can’t let it go, what she saw on the sphere, and between stealing back what was stole from them, and finding out more from the factions, Rikku, Yuna and Paine get sucked into saving Spira from a huge Machina known as Vegnagun and a restless spirit called Shuyin –who happens to look a lot like Tidus.
Shuyin is an unsent and restless spirit, using the pyre flies on the Farplane to bring about ‘Dark Aeon’s’ to fight in the temples. This troubles the group as Yuna and Rikku once relied on these Aeons to defeat SIN. Battling through Aeon after Aeon, the group steel themselves for a confrontation with Shuyin, as Yuna hopes to calm him enough to allow him to move on, as she bares resemblance to Lenne –the woman Shuyin fought and died to protect who died with him, although he never heard her say she loved him and couldn’t move on from losing her.
Rikku is fun, playful and generally really happy. But she's also easily scared, insecure and lonely. She needs her fraaaans~ Anyone interested in lines with Paine or Yuna, or any Final Fantasy X characters, feel free to contact me. x)
